Marie-Joëlle Browaeys is Assistant Professor of Cross-Cultural Management and Project Manager in Virtual Education at Nyenrode Business Universiteit, The Netherlands. She studied in the Department of Education and Science in Lille (France) and then graduated (with honors) at the Faculty of Arts, University of Amsterdam. Recently, she obtained the certificate of World Bank Institute on Improving Training Quality through Interactive Learning Technologies and Distance Mentoring. She is a member of the European Chaos and Complexity in Organizations Network (ECCON), of the European Association MCX-APC (Modélisation de la Complexité et Association pour la Pensée Complexe) and of the Executive Learning Workgroup in technology and executive education (with renowned business schools). Her research interests are culture in business, complexity thinking, and e-learning. Furthermore, she is involved in PhD research on cross-cultural management.

My name is Mark Edwards and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I am a psychologist and am in the process of completing my PhD at the Business School, University of Western Australia. The thesis develops an integral metatheory for organisational transformation. I have a Masters degree in Developmental Psychology and have worked with people with disabilities for twenty years in such roles as consultant psychologist, program co-ordinator and development officer. I am also doing some sessional teaching and tutoring in human resource devlopment and have done similar work in psychology, behavioural science organizational studies units. My published writings focus on metatheorising as a means for developing integrative and critical approaches to social issues.

Frans M. van Eijnatten (1951) received his Ph.D. in the social sciences from the University of Tilburg (Netherlands). He is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Business Engineering and Technology Application at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. His main research interest is in Socio-Technical Systems Design, an ambition he has pursued by initiating and coordinating design-oriented action research projects in R&D and information systems design. Currently, Dr. Van Eijnatten is exploring Chaos and Complexity theory. He co-edited two guest issues for the Journal of Organizational Change Management and The Learning Organization, and published an overview of Chaos and Complexity in Organization and Management in the Revue Sciences de Gestion. He is founder and coordinator of the European Chaos and Complexity Network ECCON. He participated in several European-Union-funded research and development programs.

Mari Kira (1972) is an Academy Research Fellow funded by Academy of Finland and stationed at Helsinki University of Technology (HUT), Finland. She has a M.Sc. degree (1995) and a Lic. Sc. degree (2000) from Helsinki University of Technology, and a Ph.D. degree (2003) from Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. From 2004 to 2006, she was a Marie Curie Fellow at University of Kassel, Germany, and in winter 2007/2008, she was a visiting faculty at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. Her research interests focus on sustainability of individuals at work and of work organizations as a whole. Dr. Kira is the co-editor of “Shaping Pay in Europe: A Stakeholder Approach” (2007, P.I.E. Peter Lang) and “Creating Sustainable Work Systems: Developing Social Sustainability (forthcoming, Routledge). Her work has also appeared in Journal of Organizational Change Management, Journal of Workplace Learning, and International Journal of Industrial Training and Development.

Timo Vuori is a researcher at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. He earned his M.Sc. (Tech.) in industrial engineering and management from Helsinki University of Technology in 2007. He is interested in work design factors that improve individual and organizational sustainability and performance in changing environments. Second, he is interested in understanding how human belief systems develop in changing circumstances and how this development influences sustainability and performance.
